The Heart of the Work

I believe that the stories we tell about motherhood—especially the stories of Black women—are a form of essential art. My work lives at the intersection of maternal identity, the labor of care, and the deep psychological landscapes of women’s lives.

As a researcher and writer, I am driven by a central question: How do we honor the complexity, resilience, and humanity of mothers in a world that often overlooks their internal worlds?

From the Consultation Room to the Page

With nearly 15 years of experience as a Licensed Psychologist, my perspective is rooted in the real, lived experiences of the women I sit with in my clinical practice. However, my work as an author and educator allows me to move "beyond the chair." Through my writing and public speaking, I challenge narrow stereotypes and amplify the diverse, multifaceted narratives of motherhood and caregiving.

I am the editor of Mothering as a Work of Art: A Black Mama Anthology, a collection dedicated to exploring the beauty and triumphs of the Black maternal journey. My goal is to provide a platform where the "psychological work" of mothering is recognized as the profound masterpiece it truly is.

Educator & Speaker

I partner with organizations, academic institutions, and community groups to facilitate dialogues on:

  • Black Maternal Mental Health & Reproductive Justice

  • The Psychological Transitions of Motherhood

  • Culturally Responsive Care & Collective Healing

  • The Intersection of Creativity and Wellness

Beyond the Work

When I am not writing or teaching, I am navigating my own journey of motherhood and care, constantly reminded that the most important "works of art" are the ones we live every day.
